Joint-favourites Germany top Group A with Switzerland draw

After securing qualification for the Round of 16 after two matches, Germany left it late to confirm their place as Group A winners on Sunday.

Switzerland led for over an hour after being given the lead after 28 minutes by Dan Ndoye. But with the top spot within their reach, Swiss hearts were broken when Niclas Füllkrug headed home the equaliser after 92 minutes.

The draw secured the top spot for the hosts and a Round of 16 match at the BVB Stadion Dortmund on Saturday night.

The conclusion of Group A also confirmed the end of Scotland's involvement at Euro 2024.

Steve Clarke's team realistically needed a win to have a chance of progressing. A solitary point was never going to be enough.

Instead, the Scots lost 1-0 to a late goal from Kevin Csoboth after 100 minutes

The Scots never did enough to win the match. But they can feel aggrieved not to get a penalty late in the 2nd half when Stuart Armstrong looked to have been brought down in the box by Willi Orbán after 79 minutes.

Scotland finished the competition bottom of Group A with just one point.

Betting to win Euro 2024

Germany is still the joint-favourite to win Euro 2024 at 4/1. The Germans join France at the top of the betting.

Pre-tournament favourites England are now 9/2, with Spain at 5/1 and Portugal at 11/2.

Such has been the quality of the Spanish play in this competition it's hard to understand how they are only the fourth favourites to win the tournament outright.
