Hungary are the marginal favourites in Euro 2024 showdown with Scotland

Hungary are the marginal favourites to beat Scotland when the two nations clash on Sunday night at the MHPArena in Stuttgart.

The Magyars are 7/5, with Scotland at 8/5 and the draw at 14/5 (prices subject to change). Put short, it looks like a close call on paper.

The Tartan Army looked down and out after losing their opening match 5-1 to Germany. In their defence, they didn’t dwell on the defeat and came out swinging in their second fixture against Switzerland, holding the higher ranked Swiss to a 1-1 draw.

In contrast, Hungary has had a poor Euro 2024. They lost their opening match 3-1 to the Swiss, and followed that up with a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Germany. Despite the two losses, Marco Rossi and his team still have an outside chance of qualifying if they can beat Scotland.

But it’s Scotland that are in pole position. They sit on one point, and they know that getting to the magic four point mark should be enough to see them make history and make it to the knockout stages of the Euros for the first time ever.

The match is a must win for both nations. If Scotland win, they are almost certainly into the Round of 16. If Hungary win, they give themselves an outside chance of qualifying.

Over 2.5 goals is 8/13 and both teams to score is 4/7. Both teams to score looks the better value bet.
