Back to the Champions League on Tuesday, and Rennes V Chelsea (24/11/20) is my first prediction of the week.
Rennes V Chelsea Preview
- Roazhon Park - Rennes
- Kick Off 5.55pm
- Live on BT Sports
- #RENCHE
- Matchday Live
Chelsea already have 7 points in Group E, and with the third and fourth placed teams only both on 1 point, Frank Lampard knows his team only really need 3 points from 3 matches to go through.
So will he rotate for this match? Or will he look to get the job done in France?
Personally, looking at the quotes from Lampard's press conference, he doesn't sound like he's going to rotate..... much.
He has already rested defender Thiago Silva in the Premier League last weekend, so he will no doubt return for this one.
And midfielder Kai Havertz is also available again, so there's two likely changes that can be made to freshen things up.
Will we finally see Olivier Giroud?
Could Olivier Giroud come into the side to face Rennes in light of recent remarks from his agent? I doubt it, not for this one.
As well as addressing the Giroud situation in his press conference, Lampard also praised the performances of Tammy Abraham, which makes me think he will stick with his young English striker for this one.
Rennes V Chelsea Odds
- Rennes 9/2 – The Draw 16/5 – Chelsea 6/10
- Over 2.5 Goals 7/10 – Under 2.5 Goals 5/4
- Both Teams To Score – Yes 4/6 – No 23/20
Chelsea rightly go into this match as strong odds on favourites.
The Blues are in decent form domestically, and made light work of Rennes at Stamford Bridge when the two sides met three weeks ago.
The French side currently sit 7th in Ligue 1, but they are in the midst of an awful run. At home they have won only one of their last five in the league.
While in the Champions League, they have lost two and drawn one, and currently sit bottom of Group E on 1 point.
Rennes V Chelsea Prediction 24/11/20
Chelsea are currently flying in all competitions, and it's hard to see Rennes stopping that run.
Prediction - Chelsea to win and there to be Over 2.5 Goals @ 11/8 with Betfair
They are playing an attacking brand of football, and creating chances galore. So I'm taking Chelsea to win and there to be over 2.5 goals in this one.
