Arsenal and Leicester City seem set to go head-to-head for the signing of exciting Celtic left-back, Kieran Tierney.
With Monreal ageing and not looking like he will remain at Arsenal beyond his current contract, and Kolasinac not reliable defensively, it is not a surprise that Arsenal have been linked with the signing of a couple of left backs in the last few weeks. Unfortunately the Gunners may lose out on one of their reported targets.
Report suggest Kieran Tierney is one of the players Arsenal manager Unai Emery is targeting for the summer transfer window. The highly rated Scottish defender has been linked with Arsenal for many transfer windows, even back in the days when Arsene Wenger was the manager. If reports are true, Leicester City are possibly hijacking the deal.
Tierney could link up with Brendan Rodgers again
Leicester City's new manager, Brendan Rodgers, was Kieran Tierney's manager at Celtic. Rodgers is now reported to want to sign the 22-year-old for the Foxes this summer. Leicester are not as attractive as the Gunners, but considering Rodgers was the player's manager not long ago, the Foxes may just have the edge over the Gunners.
With Manchester City said to be keen on signing Ben Chilwell from Leicester City, it is not a surprise Rodgers is already making moves to bring in a replacement. Having already managed Tierney, Rodgers believes he has the pull to sign the Scotland international.
Arsenal could however edge Leicester City to the signing of the player if they manage to break into the top four and qualify for the UEFA champions league. The odds are against Arsenal though, as football betting predictions do not favour the Gunner's chances.
Another way Arsenal can beat Leicester City to the signing of Tierney is through wages. The Gunners could lure Tierney with a big wage offer. Leicester City also may not be able to pay as much as the Gunners in terms of transfer fee,. Meaning his club Celtic, would favour doing business with the North London club.
Tottenham and Chelsea could enter the race
It will be interesting to see where Kieran Tierney goes once the summer transfer window opens. Across North London, with Tottenham's Danny Rose possibly leaving the club in the summer - it will not surprise me one bit if Spurs also enter the race for the signing of the player.
Could Chelsea be an option for signing Kieran Tierney as well? Marcos Alonso has been linked with a move away in the past, and could leave this summer. The Spaniard has struggled for form under manager Sarri.
Chelsea and Tottenham interest in signing the player, will lead to a hike of his price tag by Celtic FC. This is not going to be something Arsenal will like, considering how prudent the Gunners are in the transfer market.
